How It Works

We all have two minds; the Rational Mind and the Emotional mind. The Rational Mind thinks methodically step by step. It focuses on facts, what we can see, hear, smell, touch, and physically measure. The Emotional Mind is driven by feelings and instincts. It uses emotional resonance (what feels true) rather than what makes logical sense. Depending on our level of consciousness, both the Rational and Emotional mind can be friend or foe. There are two forms of reality, what we can observe to be true and what feels true.

When we are on the lower end of Dr. Hawkin’s Scale of consciousness, we are experiencing unhelpful negative emotions. What feels true in lower levels of consciousness (the red to yellow zone) are usually horrible ideas. Like running from difficulty rather than confronting it, disengaging rather than participating in life, getting back at someone rather than being diplomatic, etc. In these lower vibrational states, we want to listen to both minds, but pay more attention to the rational mind to move us up the scale of consciousness, since what resonates with us at these levels of consciousness manifests more chaos and negativity into our lives. REBT and CBT skills help facilitate this elevation in lower consciousness to higher moderate consciousness levels by emphasizing on rational thinking. Getting rid of thinking errors and replacing them with balanced, grounded perspectives on life.

Once we get to the positive upper end of the consciousness spectrum, (Courage 200+ yellow to purple zone) there’s a changing of the guards if you will. Although we still listen to both minds, we want to focus more to the Emotional Mind to create a new reality for ourselves rather than what is rational. When manifesting our dream life, we can only create through our emotions and what feels true. Even if you could objectively list out all of the rational positives about living your life in one way or another, that doesn’t mean that it feels right for you. The Rational Mind can only see what has already happened and therefore it can’t create your future out of nothing. It also tends to criticize and justify (hold on to) things that don’t feel right at an emotional level. Spiritual laws using focused attention, emotional resonance, and imagination (head and heart coherence) is what takes us the rest of the way up the consciousness scale.
